Thembisa Tyutu (54), a beautiful beacon of inspiration and change, stands at the helm of community leadership, steering the course for positive transformation in the vibrant town of Fort Beaufort. Born and raised in the heart of this historical township in Eastern Cape, Thembisa's journey to becoming a community leader is a testament to her unwavering commitment to social upliftment.

With a background in teaching and a passion for community development, Thembisa has dedicated her life to addressing the multifaceted challenges that Fort Beaufort faces. As the founder of the "Ubuntu Unity" initiative, she has pioneered numerous projects aimed at empowering the youth through education and skills training. Her tireless efforts have created safe spaces for dialogue, fostering a sense of unity among diverse community members, “growing up I have always wanted to make a difference, helping in any way to make people’s lives easier, it brings me joy to see other people either than myself “ Thembisa explains.

Thembisa's leadership extends beyond the confines of formal programs; she is known for her hands-on approach and ability to connect with individuals on a personal level. Whether organizing community clean-ups, facilitating workshops on entrepreneurship, or advocating for improved infrastructure, Thembisa embodies resilience and determination. One of her students, Iyanla said, “she’s the easiest person to talk to, always ready to listen and help, just having her around the school makes us learners feel safe”.

Her impact is not limited to Fort Beaufort alone. Thembisa collaborates with neighboring communities, creating networks that amplify her initiatives' reach. She firmly believes in the power of collective action and leverages partnerships with local businesses and NGOs to maximize resources.

Thembisa Tyutu's leadership style is marked by empathy, inclusivity, and a deep understanding of the community's needs. Her vision extends beyond immediate challenges, focusing on long-term sustainable solutions. As Fort Beaufort continues to evolve under her guidance, Thembisa Tyutu remains an indomitable force, inspiring positive change and embodying the true spirit of Ubuntu.
